If I didn’t, I don’t think I would be the person I am today.

And I would have never met the man who originally wrote and sang this famous tune (made even more famous by Joan Jett, and again by Britney Spears). Or maybe I would have…as long as I loved French. As it sounds, it’s a random story… The man is Alan Merrill and he had spent some years in Paris. I had written something in French on the headline of my myspace profile a few years back. Then a stranger emailed me in 2006, in French. The stranger was Alan, and turns out, he had quite a fascinating life in rock ‘n’ roll. I asked to photograph him in 2008, but not until September 2009 did we finally get a chance to shoot as we were always too busy. The wait was well worth it…
